Medical seats increased for communities seeking ST status in this state

MBBS Seats: The Assam Cabinet has decided to increase the number of seats reserved in medical education from the academic session 2022-23 for six communities seeking Scheduled Tribe (ST) status. Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah told the media late on Friday night after a meeting of the state cabinet that these six communities-Tea Garden Adivasis, Cooch Rajbanshi, Tai Ahom, Matak, Moran and Chutia currently come under Other Backward Classes (OBC). And for each of these communities, two reserved seats each in the MMBS course have been increased.

बरुआ ने बताया कि अब चाय बागान आदिवासियों को 26 आरक्षित सीटें मिलेंगी, जबकि कूच राजबंशी के लिए ऐसी सीटों की संख्या 10, ताई अहोम के लिए सात, चुटिया के लिए छह और मटक व मोरान के लिए पांच-पांच होगी। उन्होंने बतया कि डेंटल सर्जरी में स्नातक की तीन सीटें पूर्व सैनिकों के लिए आरक्षित होंगी।
