MD (Doctor of Medicine) and MS (Master of Surgery) are postgraduate medical degrees pursued by medical graduates (MBBS holders) after successful completion of their undergraduate studies. These courses are specialized programs that prepare doctors for expertise in non-surgical (MD) and surgical (MS) branches of medicine.

They are awarded after completion of 3 years of academic and clinical training in a specific specialty area.

  • MD focuses on internal medicine and diagnosis, offering specializations like General Medicine, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radiology, etc.

  • MS is centered on surgical techniques and hands-on procedures, with specializations like General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, etc.

Both MD and MS holders are eligible to use the “Dr.” title and are considered experts in their respective fields. These degrees are crucial for those aspiring to become consultants, surgeons, academicians, or specialists in hospitals and research institutions.
