North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong, is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It is a center of excellence providing undergraduate (MBBS), postgraduate, and nursing education.
Basis of Selection: Admission for the 18 "NE Open" seats is based strictly on the NEET UG-2026 qualified score and percentile.
Merit List: A merit list of all candidates will be prepared based on their NEET-UG 2026 All India Rank.
Notification: The list of candidates called for counseling will be published on the official website: www.neigrihms.gov.in.
Responsibility: Candidates must check the website for dates; no individual call letters will be sent.
Medical Examination: Selected candidates must undergo a medical examination by the Institute's Medical Board and must be found fit to be admitted.
Attendance: Candidates must attend counseling in person. Failure to attend on the notified date results in forfeiting the claim for admission.
To be eligible for the MBBS course (2026–2027 session), applicants must meet the following:
Residency: The applicant must be a Permanent Resident/Domicile of one of the eight North-eastern states, including Sikkim.
Age: Must be at least 17 years old by December 31, 2026.
Education Location: Must have studied and completed their course in schools located in India during the preceding two years.
Qualifying Exam: Must have passed the 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.
Minimum Marks: Must obtain at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology) and pass each subject individually.
NEET UG-2026: Must have appeared and qualified in NEET UG-2026.
Candidates must produce the original versions of the following documents:
Domicile/PRC: Valid, issued by a competent authority (e.g., District Commissioner) of one of the 8 NE states.
Age Proof: High School/Secondary certificate, Admit Card (10th or 10+2), or Birth Certificate showing date of birth.
Academic Certificates: Pass Certificate or Provisional Pass Certificate.
Character Certificate: Conduct and Character Certificate.
Mark Sheets: Clearly readable 10+2 mark sheets.
NEET Score Card: NEET-UG 2026 Score Card with All India Rank and percentile
The application is entirely online via www.neigrihms.gov.in
Fee Amount: ₹500.
Payment Link: CCAvenue Payment Portal.
Details: Select "Processing Fee" as the fee type and enter your name as per the Class 12th Admit Card.
Receipt: Save the payment slip/receipt; you must upload it later as proof.
Go to the official website and click the link for "Online application form for MBBS Course 2026-2027".
Register with your email ID and set a password.
Log in and go to "Apply Services" -> "View all available services".
Search for "M.B.B.S" and click "Application for MBBS".
Fill in all required details carefully.
Upload the following (Max size 2MB per file) in the annexure section:
Recent passport-size photograph.
Valid Domicile/PRC.
Age proof document.
Qualifying exam mark sheets and pass certificates.
Proof of payment (₹500 receipt).
Preview the form, click Submit, and download the acknowledgement slip.
Merit List Publication: NEIGRIHMS publishes the list of eligible candidates on the website.
1st Counseling: Candidates appear in person with original documents.
Medical Examination: Candidates undergo assessment by the Medical Board.
Fee Payment: Medically fit candidates must pay the admission fee in full.
Subsequent Rounds: If vacancies remain, candidates from the waiting list are called for 2nd or 3rd counseling.
Commencement: Admitted students join classes on the notified date
