Nagaland Neet UG Counselling 2026

Nagaland conducts state-level counselling for 85% of the seats in its medical colleges (State Quota) and seats reserved for Nagaland students in other North Eastern states. The remaining 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats are managed centrally by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC)

Eligibility Criteria

Domicile Candidates (Nagaland State Quota)

  • Indigenous Status: Candidates must be an Indigenous Inhabitant of Nagaland or a Permanent Resident.
  • Education: Must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB), and English.
  • Minimum Marks:

    • General: At least 50% aggregate in PCB.
    • SC/ST: At least 40% aggregate in PCB.

  • NEET Qualification: Must have qualified for the NEET UG 2026 exam by meeting the cutoff percentile.
  • Age: Must be at least 17 years old by December 31, 2026.

Other State Candidates

  • Eligibility: Generally, candidates from other states are not eligible for the 85% Nagaland State Quota seats.
  • Route: They can only apply for seats in Nagaland through the 15% All India Quota via the MCC website.


3. Reservation Policy

Nagaland follows the state government's reservation norms for its various tribes and categories:

  • Scheduled Tribes (ST): Major portion of seats are reserved for the Indigenous Tribes of Nagaland.
  • Backward Tribes (BT): Specific percentages are often set aside for recognized backward tribes (e.g., Konyak, Chakhesang, Phom, Sangtam, etc.).

  • PwD: 5% horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities.

Document Required

You will need both original documents and self-attested copies during the verification process:

  • NEET UG 2026 Admit Card & Scorecard.
  • Indigenous Inhabitant/Domicile Certificate (Issued by the Deputy Commissioner).
  • Class 10 Admit Card/Certificate (For Date of Birth proof).
  • Class 12 Marksheet and Pass Certificate.
  • Scheduled Tribe/Category Certificate (if applicable).
  • Passport-size photographs (Same as the one used in the NEET application).
  • Character Certificate from the head of the institution last attended.

How to apply

The process is typically conducted online through the DTE Nagaland portal.

  1. Notification: Keep a close watch on the official DTE Nagaland website or local dailies after the NEET results are declared.

  2. Registration: Visit the official portal and fill out the application form with your NEET roll number, score, and personal details.
  3. Uploading Documents: Upload scanned copies of the required documents (Indigenous certificate, marksheets, etc.).
  4. Merit List: The department will release a State Merit List based on the NEET scores of registered candidates.
  5. Choice Filling: Candidates on the merit list will be asked to select their preferred courses (MBBS, BDS, B.Sc Nursing, etc.) and colleges.
  6. Seat Allotment: Based on your rank and choices, a seat allotment letter will be issued.
  7. Reporting: Visit the designated office or college to verify original documents and pay the admission fees to secure your seat.
