The admission process is centralized for three major institutions in Chandigarh:

Government Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32: Offers the MBBS course.

Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Sector 25: Offers the BDS course.

Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Sector 26: Offers the BHMS course

Eligibility Criteria

MBBS (UT Chandigarh Pool - 115 Seats)

Candidates must fulfill one of the following five criteria to be eligible for the UT Chandigarh Pool:

Academic: Completed 10th, 10+1, and 10+2 as a regular student from schools/colleges recognized by the Chandigarh Administration and situated in UT Chandigarh.

Residence: Parents have been residents of Chandigarh for the past 05 years immediately preceding the application date.

Employment: Parents are employees of Central/State Government on deputation to UT Administration, or employees of Chandigarh Administration/Autonomous bodies (with 20% or more Govt. share) for the past 03 years.

Defence: Wards of serving Defence Personnel/Ex-Servicemen who had a permanent address in Chandigarh at the time of entry into service.

OCI: Overseas Citizens of India who secured their OCI card before March 4, 2021, and meet one of the first three criteria above.

B. BDS (All India Pool - 100 Seats)

No Domicile Requirement: There is no UT pool for BDS; all seats are open to candidates from across India.

Academic: Must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology, and English individually in 10+2.

C. BHMS (State/UT Pool - 42 Seats)

Academic: Similar to MBBS/BDS, requiring passes in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology, and English.

NEET: Must be in the NEET (UG)-2026 merit list.

Other States: Leftover seats may be filled by candidates from other states.

Candidates must bring original documents and separate sets of photocopies for each course applied for:

NEET (UG)-2026 Result Card.

Matriculation (10th) Certificate for Date of Birth.

Passing Certificates of 10th, 10+1, and 10+2.

Detailed Marks Sheet of 10+2.

Character Certificate 

Applicable UT Pool Certificates 

Undertaking regarding residence

Reserved Category Certificate 

Two passport-size photographs.

Photo ID (Aadhar, Passport, Voter ID, etc.)

How to apply

The application process is entirely online via www.gmch.gov.in.

Step 1: Visit the GMCH website and go to "Admission".

Step 2: Register to receive an Application ID via email.

Step 3: Fill in demographic and educational details.

Step 4: Select courses (MBBS, BDS, and/or BHMS) in a single form.

Step 5: Upload Photo & Signature (JPG < 50KB) and required documents.

Step 6: Pay the total fee online in a single transaction.

Step 7: Print the application form.

Application Fees

General/General PwD: Rs. 2,000 + charges.

SC/SC PwD: Rs. 1,000 + charges.

Foreign Indian/NRI: Rs. 14,000 + charges.
