Himachal Pradesh NEET UG Counselling 2026: Dates, Registration, Choice Filling, &More!

The Atal Medical & Research University (AMRU), Himachal Pradesh, located at Ner Chowk, Mandi, is the designated authority for conducting the centralized online counseling.

Purpose: It manages admissions for all MBBS and BDS seats in Government Medical/Dental Colleges, as well as State and Management Quota seats in Private Medical/Dental Colleges.

Basis of Admission: Allotments are strictly based on the merit of NEET-UG 2026.

Scope: The counseling covers all rounds (Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and Stray Vacancy).

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility is divided into State Quota and Management Quota categories.

State Quota (85% of Seats in Govt. Colleges / State Quota in Private)

To be eligible for the State Quota, a candidate must be a Bonafide Himachali. The primary requirements include:

Schooling Requirement: Candidates must have passed at least two examinations (out of Middle, Matric, or 10+2) from recognized schools within Himachal Pradesh.

Parental Requirement: For candidates who did not school in HP, they may still be eligible if their parents are Bonafide Himachalis and meet specific criteria, such as being State/Central Government employees posted in HP or outside for a specific duration.

Management Quota (Private Colleges Only)

National Eligibility: This category is open to candidates from all over India, regardless of their domicile or where they completed their schooling.

Requirement: Candidates must still be NEET-UG 2026 qualified and register through the AMRU portal.

3. NRI Candidates: Eligibility & Priority

NRI seats are available in both Government and Private institutions.

Who Qualifies?

Direct NRI: The candidate themselves is an NRI.

Children of NRIs: Natural children of an NRI parent.

Wards of NRIs: Real brother/sister of the candidate or other first-degree relatives (uncles, aunts, grandparents) who have treated the student as a ward and reside abroad.

Priority Order for NRI Seats

Priority I: NRIs/OCIs/PIOs who are Bonafide Himachalis or their children.

Priority II: NRIs/OCIs/PIOs who belong to other Indian States/UTs.

Document Required

Candidates must possess original documents for verification during the joining process.

Mandatory for All Candidates

NEET Records: NEET-UG 2026 Admit Card and Result/Scorecard.

Academic Certificates: 10TH (Matriculation) certificate for age proof and 10+2 (Senior Secondary) detailed Mark Sheet.

Character Certificate: A recent certificate issued by the Principal of the last school attended or a Gazetted Officer.

Identity Proof: Aadhaar Card or other government-issued photo ID.

Category Specific Documents

State Quota: Bonafide Himachali Certificate.

Reserved Categories: SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD certificates issued by the competent authority of Himachal Pradesh.

NRI Candidates:

Valid Passport and Visa of the sponsor.

NRI Certificate from the Indian Embassy/Consulate.

Equivalency Certificate from the AIU (Association of Indian Universities) if the qualifying exam was taken abroad.

How to apply

The process is entirely online via the AMRU HP portal.

Online Registration: Candidates fill out the application form and pay the non-refundable counseling fee (β‚Ή2,000 for General/OBC; β‚Ή1,000 for SC/ST/PwD/EWS).

Merit List Publication: AMRU releases a State Merit List based on the NEET scores of registered candidates.

Choice Filling & Locking: Candidates select their preferred colleges and courses in order of priority.

Provisional Allotment: Seats are assigned based on merit, category, and available vacancies.

Token Fee Deposition: Allotted candidates must pay the university token fee online to accept the seat.

Physical Reporting: Candidates report to the allotted college for document verification, medical examination, and final admission.
