The Commissioner and Competent Authority of the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra State, is responsible for conducting the admission process. Admissions to Health Science courses are based on the candidate's performance in the NEET UG 2026. The process is governed by the Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Fees) Act, 2015, and subsequent government resolutions. The State CET Cell manages the selection for Government, Corporation, and Private Unaided colleges through a Centralized Admission Process (CAP).
Eligibility is primarily focused on Maharashtra state candidates, with limited provisions for others:
Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian National.
Domicile Requirement: The candidate must be a Domicile of Maharashtra.
Educational Requirement: Candidates must have passed the SSC (or equivalent) and HSC (12th) examinations from an institution situated in the State of Maharashtra.
Other States (OMS): Candidates from other states are generally only eligible for the Institutional Quota (15%) in Private Unaided/Minority Medical and Dental colleges, provided they have appeared for NEET UG 2026.
Exceptions: There are specific exemptions for children of employees of the Government of India or Government of Maharashtra who are transferred or posted in Maharashtra.
Maharashtra provides extensive reservations for various categories:
Constitutional Reservation:
Scheduled Castes (SC): 13%.
Scheduled Tribes (ST): 7%.
Vimukta Jati (VJ/DT - A): 3%.
Nomadic Tribes (NT - B): 2.5%.
Nomadic Tribes (NT - C): 3.5%.
Nomadic Tribes (NT - D): 2%.
Other Backward Classes (OBC): 19%.
EWS Reservation: 10% of seats are reserved for Economically Weaker Section candidates.
Special Reservations:
Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 5% horizontal reservation.
Defense (Def): 5% horizontal reservation for children of defense personnel in Government/Corporation colleges.
Orphan Reservation: 1% horizontal reservation.
Hill Area/MKB: Specified percentages for candidates from hilly areas or Maharashtra-Karnataka Border regions.
Candidates must produce original documents and one set of photocopies during the physical verification process:

Domicile Certificate issued by the Competent Authority.
SSC (10th) Passing Certificate and HSC (12th) Mark Sheet.

Category Documents (if applicable): Caste Certificate, Caste Validity Certificate, and Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (valid up to 31/03/2027).

Publication of Merit List: The State CET Cell publishes a Provisional State Merit List based on NEET UG scores.
Preference Filling: Candidates fill "Preferences" (choices) for colleges and courses online. Preferences once locked cannot be changed for that round.
Seat Allotment: Allotment is done based on merit, category, and the preferences filled by the candidate.
Physical Document Verification: Candidates who are allotted a seat for the first time must undergo document verification at the allotted college.
Joining and Status Retention: Candidates must report to the college to pay fees and join. They may also opt to fill a "Status Retention Form" if they are satisfied with their current allotment.
