UP NEET UG 2026 Counselling Process

UP NEET UG 2026 counselling dates will be announced after NEET 2026 results. NTA is scheduled to conduct NEET 2026 exam on May 3, 2026 in pen-and-paper mode. The counselling dates will be released along with the brochure, comprising important details. Candidates will have to apply online and submit application form for UP NEET 2026 counselling. Qualifying NEET 2026 with minimum cut off is mandatory criteria to participate in UP NEET 2026 counselling. After registration, a merit list is released which compares eligible candidates for counselling rounds.

UP NEET 2026 counselling will take place in three rounds. The third round will be an open round or mop-up round. The seats left vacant after the first round DGME UP NEET UG 2026 counselling will be carried forward to the second round.

It must be noted that the UP NEET Counselling 2026 will be conducted for the allotment of 85% State Quota seats, which are reserved for candidates who are permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh. The remaining 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats will be filled through NEET 2026 Central Counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), which is open to candidates from all over India.

The applying candidates must have qualified the NEET 2026 Entrance Examination. Aspirants must have the domicile of Uttar Pradesh for state quota admissions only. For private colleges, all India candidates are eligible.

Candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology, with English as a compulsory subject:

  • Minimum 50% marks for General category
  • Minimum 40% marks for SC/ST candidates
  • Minimum 45% marks for Physically Handicapped (PwD) candidates

Age Criteria: The candidate should have completed 17 years of age on 31-12-2026. Candidates born on or after 02-01-2009 are not eligible for MBBS/BDS admission.

Candidates must carry the following documents to the respective nodal centers for verification. Failure to do so may lead to forfeiture of the seat allocated:

  • NEET Admit Card 2026
  • NEET Score Card 2026
  • Class 10 Marksheet / Birth Certificate (for Date of Birth verification)
  • Class 12 Marksheet / Passing Certificate (Qualifying Exam)
  • Identity Proof (Aadhaar / PAN / Passport / Driving License)
  • Parent / Guardian ID Proof
  • School Leaving Certificate / Transfer Certificate
  • Passport Size Photographs (Recent, Self-Attested)
  • Domicile Certificate of Uttar Pradesh (if applicable)
  • Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS if applicable)
  • Income Certificate (if applicable)
  • PwD Certificate (if applicable)
  • Gap Year Affidavit (if applicable)
  • Medical Fitness Certificate (if required)
  • Receipt of Security Money / Counselling Fee Payment

How to apply

Step 1 – Registration

Qualified candidates who wish to participate in the UPNEET Counselling 2026 must register themselves by visiting the official website of UP NEET: https://upneet.gov.in. Some important points to note:

  • Candidates must register only once for the UP NEET 2026 Counselling process.
  • No other registration should be done for the other two rounds of the counselling.
  • For successful registration, candidates must also process the payment of INR 2000 as counselling registration fee. This fee can be paid via online modes such as Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking.

Step 2 – Payment of Security Money

Security Money – After successful completion of registration, candidates must pay the security deposit. This security money is refundable. Candidates can make the payment via Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Director General, Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh” payable at Lucknow. The amount of security money differs based on the preference for private or government medical colleges, and dental courses. The table below explains the security money deposit.

Step 3 – Verification of Documents

After completion of Registration and Payment, candidates must report to the nodal centres for verification of documents. Failing to do so within the given time will result in forfeiture of their chance, and the seat may be allotted to another candidate. Once verification is completed, candidates can proceed to the next stage of UP NEET Counselling 2026.

Step 4 – Choice Filling and Seat Locking

After document verification, candidates must log in to the official UP NEET Counselling portal and mark their preference of colleges in order. The most preferred college should be chosen first and given priority. Below is the step-by-step procedure for choice filling and seat locking:

  • Login – Log in using NEET Roll Number and Password. Candidates will receive an OTP on their registered mobile number.
  • Choice Filling – Choose the preferred medical colleges from the displayed list. Verify fee structure and other details. Save the colleges selected.
  • Lock the Options – Lock your choices and submit before the deadline. Unsubmitted choices will not be considered for UP NEET Counselling 2026.
  • List of Seat Allotment – After submission, DMET will review all applications and release the merit list / seat allotment list.
  • Reporting to the College Allotted – Candidates satisfied with the seat allotment must report to the allotted college before the last date. They must carry all original documents for verification.
