Vinayaka Mission's Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, a Pioneer institution in the field of Quality based Homoeopathic Medical education was the vision of the Philanthropist, Dr. A.Shanmugasundaram, the seeds of which were sown in the months of June 1988 at the foothills of Yercaud, Salem. The college took its initiative in the Undergraduate education and wholistic patient care under the Tamilnadu Dr.MGR Medical University, Chennai but soon set up its foundation as a Deemed institution under the Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation (Deemed to be University), Salem (declared under Sec.3 of the UGC Act,1956) in the year 2001 and befitted as the first college in South India to provide Post graduate programme in all the 7 specialities of Homoeopathy and an undergraduate approval of 100 students per academic year in the year 2002. The college is the research centre for Doctorate in Homoeopathy (Ph.D.) from the year 2011.
