1. No More Physical Reporting for Round 1 Seat Allotment

Earlier, candidates allotted a seat in Round 1 had to physically travel to the allotted college, submit original documents in person, and complete admission formalities on campus — often within a very tight window. This year, that requirement has been removed. Reporting and document submission for the allotted seat can now be completed entirely online through the MCC counselling portal.

2. Online Resignation — No Campus Visit Required

If a candidate wants to vacate an allotted seat — for example, to try their luck in state counselling or wait for a better option in the next round — the resignation process no longer requires a physical visit to the college. This can now be done from home through the online portal, with the resignation letter generated digitally.

3. PwD/PwBD Assessment Centers Nearly Doubled

For candidates applying under the Persons with Disability (PwD/PwBD) category, the number of certificate verification and assessment centers has been increased from 32 to 62 across the country. This significantly reduces travel distance and waiting times for these candidates.

4. NRI Quota Document Upload Simplified

Candidates applying under the NRI quota for deemed universities can now upload all required supporting documents directly through the MCC portal, cutting down on offline submission hassles.

No More Emergency Travel Bookings

Every year, thousands of families were forced into panic-mode flight and train bookings, often paying inflated last-minute fares just to report to a college within 24–48 hours of allotment. That pressure is now gone.

Seat Upgradation Becomes Far Easier

Students who want to hold on to their current seat while hoping for an upgrade in the next round no longer need to worry about physically visiting the college to remain eligible for upgradation consideration. This makes the "hold and wait" strategy much less stressful and far more accessible to students from smaller towns and remote areas.

Fewer Vacant Seats in Later Rounds

Because holding a seat is now administratively simpler, MCC and counselling experts anticipate fewer seats falling vacant due to candidates failing to complete physical formalities in time. This could mean tighter cutoffs and less "extra" movement in Round 2 and beyond — so don't count on last-round vacancies the way earlier batches did.

A More Inclusive Process

The near-doubling of PwD assessment centers is a meaningful step toward reducing the logistical burden on candidates who already face the most friction in the admission process.

When Does MCC Counselling 2026 Start?

The official information brochure and detailed schedule from MCC are expected shortly. Based on current indications, MCC counselling for NEET UG 2026 is likely to begin around the first week of August 2026. • Do not share your NEET login credentials or OTPs with anyone claiming to "process" your seat on your behalf, even if they claim to represent a college or counselling agency.
• If anyone asks for money to guarantee a seat, upgrade, or "fast-track" your online reporting, it is a scam — report it immediately.
