North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong, Meghalaya is an Autonomous Institute established by the Government of India in 1987. The Institute has been designed as a Postgraduate Medical Institute in the lineage of AIIMS, New Delhi and PGIMER, Chandigarh. It is a leading postgraduate medical institute in the North Eastern Region and was established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

NEIGRIHMS is a Centre of Excellence in Medical Education and Human Resource Development, offering Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Nursing and allied medical education. The Institute also provides specialized patient care services through its referral hospital and has advanced research facilities. It also serves as an apex coordination centre for healthcare programmes in the North Eastern States.

• Unified Counselling: The process is designed to provide a single application platform for all eligible NEET PG candidates.
• Reservation & Quotas: The counselling follows government policies, offering seats under categories such as General, SC, ST, OBC, and reserved quotas for candidates with domicile or residency proof of Meghalaya.
• Domicile Preference: Priority is given to candidates with domicile or permanent residence in Meghalaya for the state quota seats.

Eligibility Criteria

* Nationality: The candidate must be a Resident Indian National.

* Domicile / Bonafide Status:

* Open North East Category: Candidates must possess a Permanent Resident/Domicile Certificate of any of the 8 North-Eastern states (including Sikkim)

* NEIGRIHMS Quota: Bonafide MBBS graduates of NEIGRIHMS are eligible under this quota, regardless of their domicile status.

* Educational Qualification:

* Candidates must hold an MBBS degree recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

* The compulsory 1-year rotating internship must be completed on or before 15th August 2026. Candidates completing their internship after this date are not eligible

* Medical Registration: Candidates must have permanent or provisional registration with the NMC or any State Medical Council (or obtain it within one month of admission).

* Foreign Medical Graduates: Candidates who obtained their MBBS degree abroad must have passed the qualifying examination conducted by the NMC and hold valid NMC registration. Their internship must also be completed by 15th August 2026

* NEET PG Cut-off: Candidates must qualify NEET PG 2026 with a minimum percentile score of 50%. Candidates scoring below 50% percentile will not be considered for the merit list

* Ineligibility: Candidates who are currently pursuing or have already completed an MD/MS degree program anywhere are not eligible for admission.

Document Required

i) High School/Secondary School Certificate issued by the Board / University showing the date of birth of the applicant

ii) Pass Certificate / Provisional Pass Certificate of the qualifying MBBS examination

iii) Mark sheets 1st, 2nd, and 3rd ( Part-I and Part –II) MBBS Professional Examinations

iv) Attempt certificate of MBBS Professional Examinations.

v) Internship completion certificate / certificate from the head of the Institutions/ college that the candidate will complete the Internship by 15th August, 2026

vi) Permanent/ Provisional Registration Certificate within the validity period issued by NMC / State Medical Council

vii) NEET PG 2026 Admit card

viii) NEET PG 2026 Score Card

ix) The candidates must submit a Domicile/ Permanent Residential Certificate valid for the year 2026, from the competent authority (i.e. District Commissioner of the state or any Government authorized Official) proving that he/she is Domicile/Permanent resident of one of the 8 (eight) North Eastern states of India including Sikkim

x) No Objection Certificate: In case the candidate joined elsewhere in PG course have to bring NOC from the concerned college for joining the PG course in NEIGRIHMS
