The history of Medical College, Kolkata marks the beginning of medical education in our country. It was established in the year 1835. Every year 250 undergraduate students join this institute to obtain their MBBS degree. The College also offers postgraduate and postdoctoral courses in most of the broad speciality and super speciality branches. Students of nursing and paramedical courses are also trained in this institute under a single umbrella.
Objectives of the Institute :To develop a high standard of medical education i.e. patterns of teaching in undergraduate, postgraduate and super specialized medical education. To deliver excellent patient and family focused care in state-of-the art hospital facility. To bring out advance knowledge through high end research activities.To improve the health of the medically underserved community in rural as well as urban areas.
