Pune Municipal Corporation has always ensured effective and accessible healthcare to citizens of Pune. There is increasing proportion of Urban Poor and vulnerable population (32.5 %) in Pune.It is need of an hour to provide affordable and accessible Tertiary Health care to this population which will be fulfilled by this Medical college and Hospital by creating more number of doctors under the aegis of Pune Municipal Corporation. In view of this vision Pune Municipal Corporation has established, Pune Municipal Corporation- Medical Education Trust which has set up Bharatratna Atalbihari Vajpayee Medical College, Pune.
The college received letter of permission from NMC for academic year 2021-22 and MUHS affiliation with intake capacity of 100 seats for MBBS. There is a constant effort for faculty development, competency-based curriculum, research and innovative teaching learning environment.
